As more and more people continue to log into the server, more and more of the same questions are asked. So, here is a general FAQ when regarding private races. If there are any that I have not listed on here, feel free to PM me or another moderator and we'll add them into this FAQ granted it is a more common question.
PLEASE READ THE README: Private Races THREAD FIRST BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CREATE A PRIVATE RACE.
1. What is a private race?
If you had read the thread posted above, you would know that answer. A private race is a race that is generally between the level consideration of 500-700, with a customized list of skills/abilities/ultimates that you design. The max amount of skills per private race is now limited to 6, with however many ranks you really wish. More information regarding this can be found in the thread above.
2. How much is a private race?
A private race is $15 USD.
3. Can I buy a private race?
Yes, you can buy a private race that -you- design, once it is approved. However, the common misconception is that people believe they can buy a private race that is already created. That you cannot do. Before you go to the server store and buy a private race, you must do the following:
A. Design it. B. Get Community Feedback/Votes C. Wait until it is marked as Approved by kano.
Once it is marked as [APPROVED] (Which is only done by kano), you may go to the server store and purchase it. Remember, you cannot buy OTHER PEOPLE's private races. That would defeat the purpose of having a private race.
4. Who approves the private races?
The only person who can ultimately approve a private race is kano. It is up to his discretion whether or not he wants to spend the time to make the race or not.
However, in order to get it approved by kano, it will be subjected to the Community. This means several things; people will now start voting for whether or not the races get approved, people will give feedback. Please do not attempt to abuse this system as it will just result in... Well, shit hitting the fan. Do not think that the only way the race will get approved is by getting a lot of votes; just because you got 10 friends to create accounts and vote does not mean you will get it.
5. Can I do the code for the race myself and just get it approved? All you have to do is copy and paste!
No. Unless stated otherwise by kano, as of this moment this is not acceptable. There is too great of a chance for abuse in multiple different ways to the point where it simply will not be done.
6. Can I share my private race?
Of course. As stated in the thread link posted above, you may share your private race with 1 other person. You cannot, however, share it with more than one other person. This rule is not flexible so please do not attempt to negotiate. 7. Can I have custom skins or sound effects?
No. As stated in the thread link posted above, the usage of custom skins has been removed from the server. (An example of a reason comes from people abusing skins and making it easy to see CT/T's)
As for sound effects, as of this moment, no. Until further notice is given by kano, no private races will have any custom sound effects.
8. I designed a race months ago, but never got it approved. What's wrong?
There may be several reasons for this, but there is most likely a reason.
One of the main reasons is this: Your race is unbalanced. Either go with any suggestions made by Busta, Shinra, myself or any other players who have useful critique... Or scrap it if you cannot concede. If there are no suggestions made by a moderator, most times it's because the race is so IMBA that until you show an active attempt to adjust it fairly, we won't waste our time.
9. My race is approved and I paid for it, but it's not on the server. What's up?
Patience. It takes time to do the code for private races, depending on the skill list, and real life/holidays, etc.
Just wait it out. If you continue to badger/pester, it may have a negative effect on your future race requests.
10. My race has issues. Who should I talk to?
Please pm kano with any troubleshooting issues that come up with your private race.
11. I had an old private race, but ended up having to get a new account. Can I add that private race to my new steam id?
As of this moment, the person you should get in contact with is kano regarding that.
